Port Blair, Dec. 22: The Asian Waterbird Census, Wetland International South Asia and Bombay Natural History Society has appointed Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Officer-in-Charge, Zoological Survey of India, Port Blair as a State Coordinator for A & N Islands to conduct & coordinate the waterbird census. 

The Asian waterbird Census (AWC) is a citizen-science initiative providing information on the status of waterbirds and wetlands.  AWC forms a part of the International Waterbird Census (IWC), a global programme coordination by Wetland International since 1967.  The AWC is jointly coordinated in India by the Wetland International South Asia and Bombay Natural History Society and supported by the Wetlands International Global Office.   Interested personal with experience in birding are invited to register for participation in the waterbird census to be held during 29th December 2021 - 7th January 2022 in various parts of A & N Islands.
