Port Blair, Jan 9: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Mr. Rangalal Halder on Saturday wrote a letter to the Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, requesting him to arrange transportation services for inter-island peoples prior to lockdown.

In the letter Mr. Halder stated that the recent curbs initiated by A&N Administration for combatting Corona virus is indicating towards a complete or partial lockdown in near future as happened during 1st wave and 2nd wave.

He highlighted that, during previous lockdowns, hundreds of inter-island peoples especially labourers were stranded at different Islands and left to fend for themselves because of non-availability of transportation services which caused a huge distress.

He added that, if the Administration is planning to impose lockdown, then they should develop a standard protocol in advance for receiving and sending such people.

Hence, he requested the Lt. Governor to direct A&N Administration for making necessary transportation arrangements atleast 3 days prior to lockdown, if imposed, so that the inter-islander people are able to proceed to their respective destination without any hassle.
