Port Blair, Jan 13: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder has requested the Director of Shipping Services and Director of Transport to make requisite arrangements for transportation of all inter-islander students who are stranded at Port Blair to their respective destination by arranging special boats and buses.

He informed that after the new order issued by District Magistrate, South Andaman on dated 10/01/2022 regarding closure of schools and colleges in South Andaman District, hundreds of inter-islander students are queuing at bus stands and jetties of Port Blair.

He exhorted that, all college hostels have been closed and now students have no place to stay in Port Blair. Further, he added that overcrowding of students in bus stands and jetties will also increase the threat of spreading COVID-19.

Keeping in view of their problems and to send them back to their respective destinations, the ANTCC President requested the Director of Shipping Services and Director of Transport to make arrangements of special boats and buses for transportation of all the stranded students at Port Blair to different Islands.

The ANTCC President has also requested to issue public notice well in advance for information of general public regarding suspension of public transportation facilities so that the people can proceed to their respective place of residence prior to imposition of such suspension.
