Port Blair, Jan 20: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration to provide a ship for the Car Nicobar Island as soon as possible, so that these stranded tribal people at Port Blair can reach Car Nicobar and other people who are stranded at Car Nicobar can return back to Port Blair.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament today mentioned that a large number of residents of Car Nicobar Island are stranded at Port Blair since the last several weeks due to unavailability of ships for Car Nicobar Island.

He explained that many tribal people from Car Nicobar had come to Port Blair for various purposes like education, jobs, medical treatment and interview but now they are unable to return back to Car Nicobar Island due to unavailability of ships.

The Member of Parliament pointed out that the residents of Car Nicobar Island have to pay a heavy amount for daily boarding and lodging facilities at Port Blair but, many Nicobari families are not financially very sound to afford to pay for boarding and lodging for such a long period.

Considering the hardship being faced by the people of Car Nicobar Island, the Member of Parliament requested the Chief Secretary to direct the concerned departments to provide a ship for the Car Nicobar Island as soon as possible.
