Port Blair, Jan 21: In yet another crackdown on corruption by the A & N Administration, a Junior Engineer of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) was served with an order of ‘Dismissal from Service’ which shall be a disqualification for future employment under the Government by the Competent Authority on 15th January, 2022.

The officer was charge-sheeted under the CCS (CCA) Rules, 1965 with the charge of having assets disproportionate to known sources of his income. An enquiry was conducted in the matter and finally the Competent Authority, viewing the matter as that of serious concern, issued the order. The order has been served immediately upon the officer concerned.

It is to mention that the Administration has been firmer than ever in taking stern actions against officials engaged in corruption. Only a few months ago, a senior officer of the Administration was also dismissed from the service on charges of bribery. This step will again send a strong message to other serving employees of the Administration against engaging in corrupt practices.
