Port Blair, May 11: Former State President BJP-ANI, Shri Vishal Jolly has written a letter to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration in the matter of scarcity of clean drinking water in Kishori Nagar Gram Panchayat, Diglipur Tehsil.
In his letter Jolly mentioned that on his recently concluded visit to the North & Middle Andaman District, several problems & issues faced by the general public of that region were put forth before me for taking it up with the appropriate authority. One such issue is that of scarcity of clean drinking water in the entire Kishori Nagar Gram Panchayat of Diglipur Tehsil area. People residing in that Panchayat are facing serious scarcity of clean drinking water and they are forced to walk distant places to bring water for drinking.
It was made known by the general public of that locality that in Hara Tekri a good source of water is available and if appropriate steps for the Water Project are undertaken & built, several surrounding villages of that region would be largely benefited.
Further he mentioned that, a survey was conducted by the officials of APWD and whilst the survey, it was detected that the said source is yielding 16 litres of water in just 30 seconds, which is quite good. Subsequently thereafter, the said "Hara Tekri Water Project" was said to be undertaken but it has been informed that till date the said project is pending before the authorities of Water Division-APWD, Diglipur.
Accordingly he requested the Chief Secretary to give necessary directions/instructions to the concerned officials to expedite and complete the "Hara Tekri Water Project" in a war footing manner and give relief to the residents of that locality.
Concluding in his letter he stressed that the Government of India under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been taking utmost steps to provide clean water to each and every household of far flung villages through National Rural Drinking Water Programme, Har Ghar Jal- Jal Jeevan Mission, etc. under the Ministry of Jal Shakti and therefore it would be matter of great relief and respite if clean water is provided under your direction, to the villages of that region at the earliest.
