Port Blair, May 16: A staff of the Port Management Board today lost his feet when the rope tied for towing a pantoon broke. The accident took place as Chatham Jetty when efforts were being made to tow a big pantoon.

Sources inform that the force of the breaking rope was such that it hit the leg of the victim, tearing apart and separating his feet from his leg. Soon after the accident, the staffs of Port Management Board and the officers of ships who were present on the spot, tried to give him a first aid and shifted him to the hospital for further treatment. The accident was also a result of inclement weather condition leading to choppy sea that led to extra stress on the rope.
