Training Program Launched by Police Training School, Prothrapur

Port Blair, May 19: Police Training School, Prothrapur under the aegis of Capacity Building Commission & MHA has started organizing 03 days course on “Karmayogi Police – Custodians of Society” for Head Constables to Inspectors of District & Traffic Police of A&N Police from 09/05/2022 and valediction for the 3rd batch comprising of 30 participants was graced by Shri Neeraj Thakur, IPS DGP, A&N Islands on 19/05/2022.

“Mission Karmayogi” is a flagship programme launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India through the Capacity Building Commission and Ministry of Home Affairs. The programme is aimed at capacity building of Police Personnel in providing efficient delivery of Police Services to the satisfaction of our citizens. On a pilot basis the program has been launched at different UTs for Head Constables to Inspectors of District & Traffic Police who are directly involved in public dealing to enable them to serve the citizens as custodians of the society.

Under this mission, about 400 police personnel of A&N Police have been identified for training and their training would be done by the Master Trainers in about 14 batches to be held at Police Training School, Prothrapur as well as in N&M Andaman District & Nicobar District.

The training at Police Training School, Prothrapur for the target trainees was launched on 09/05/2022 in consonance to the stipulations of the Capacity Building Commission and on successful completion of training programme for the three batches comprising of 83 police personnel, valediction for the third batch was held on 19/05/2022 at Police Training School, Prothrapur. The trainees were given their certificate for completion of training by Sh. Neeraj Thakur, IPS, DGP, A&N Islands in the presence of Shri S.K. Jain, IPS, IGP (L&O), Smti. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, Principal PTS & Shri Michael Raj, DANIPS, Vice Principal PTS at Police Training School, Prothrapur.

DGP, A&N Police who was also on his maiden visit to the Police Training School inspected the facilities & infrastructure around the PTS complex. Later, during the valediction function, he took feedback from the participants and awarded them with Certificates of Completion of the course. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized on the fact that the Police Force perform extraordinary work during their duties but doesn’t get due recognition in the society and stated that this could only be acquired by building trust with citizens. He encouraged all participants to draw positives from the learning of the course and directed them to work in the direction of better police service delivery to the citizens of these Islands.
