National Doctors’ Day is celebrated on July 1 every year to mark the birthday of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was a world renowned physician, freedom fighter, and a politician who held the post of chief minister of West Bengal.

In the present day, the National Doctor's Day gains more significance as doctors continue to fight the Covid pandemic day and night.

On this day, I salute all Doctors who ensured that India, including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, did not succumb to the challenges posed by COVID-19.

The day is celebrated to acknowledge the important contribution of doctors and physicians, and thank them for their relentless service to humanity.

During this ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, many Doctors have been serving the people tirelessly, without any break. They are compromising with their own health to make sure that their patients get the best treatment possible.

Considering the valuable service provided by our Doctors, it becomes even more important for us to celebrate our doctors and physicians and be thankful to them for their service to humankind.
