Port Blair, June 30: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma on 29 June 2022 inaugurated two crucial works, completed with MPLADS funds in G B Pant Hospital Complex.

With completion of these works, attendants of patients and people coming to G B Pant Hospital from far-away places will finally have a waiting room to take rest and toilet block for emergency use.

The works ‘Construction of new Toilet Block in the back side of the Female Ward at G B Pant Hospital, Port Blair’ was completed at the cost of Rs. 8,01,332 while the works ‘Construction of Waiting Hall in the back side of Ortho ward at G B Pant Hospital, Port Blair’ was completed at the cost of Rs. 7,57,254.

Addressing the gathering the Member of Parliament said that during his regular visits to G B Pant Hospital he had witnessed attendants of admitted patients sleeping on the floor outside the wards. He came to know that attendants who come from faraway places neither had a place to take some rest nor a toilet block and hence they had to use toilet blocks of different wards, which were actually earmarked for patients.

Considering problems being faced by the general public and after listening to problems of many attendants the Member of Parliament had sanctioned these two works under MPLADS fund.

He said that he is delighted to see that the works are completed in a very short span of time. The Member of Parliament said that he is confident that this waiting hall as well as toilet block will give huge relief to the patients and attendants.

During the inauguration function the Director of Health Services, Dr Munni Singhania, the Dean of ANIIMS, Dr. Omkar Singh, Medical Superintendent, Dr. M K Saha, other Doctors, Medical Staff and a large number of other public were also present.
