Mayabunder, Aug 10: The district police of North & Middle Andaman has been conducting regular raids to crackdown on sale of illicit ganja, illicit liquor, Handia and IMFL. In the month of July, the teams of various police stations, headed by SHOs and sub-inspectors conducted jungle searches to destroy illicit liquor/lehan and Regular raids at illegal sale of IMFL, Handia. The strict vigil over the history sheeters and known bootleggers has also been intensified which making it hard for them to be involved in any illegal activity.

In the month of July, the district police had registered a total of 18 cases for the violation of Excise Regulation, in which 18 accused were arrested with 45 bottles of various quantities of IMFL, 18 kgs. Handia and 11 ltrs. illicit liquor has also been seized. Apart from this, 2 kg ganja has been seized and a case under NDPS Act also registered.

Apart from this 50 public awareness campaigns have also been conducted to urge people not to indulge in drinking. The general public is also requested to pass on credible information regarding any illegal activities to their nearest police station and phone No.100, 112 & 03192-273344. The identity of the informers will be kept secret and will also be suitably rewarded.
