Port Blair, Aug 10: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration to resume the night bus service of STS from Diglipur to Port Blair.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that before the COVID-19 pandemic the State Transport Service (STS) used to operate night buses from Diglipur to Port Blair, which was immensely beneficial for the people of these Islands, especially residents of North Andaman region.

He said that because of such night bus service, the residents were able to travel ATR during night and reach Port Blair by next morning and still used to have a full day to complete various works related to government offices, hospital visits, marketing etc. This service used to save their lodging and other costs at Port Blair.

According to the Member of Parliament because of the night bus service of STS they used to get bus tickets at an affordable rate and they were able to save a complete day of journey.

He mentioned that since the beginning of lockdown, the night bus service of STS was withdrawn.

Now that the COVID-19 situation has normalized in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Member of Parliament requested the Chief Secretary to resume the night bus service of STS from Diglipur to Port Blair so that people of North Andaman region can avail this facility once again.
