Port Blair, Aug 12: The District Administration, South Andaman in association with the Tourist Boat Owner’s Association, Aberdeen Bazaar and Department of Tourism, A & N Administration conducted a “TIRANGA BOAT RALLY” on 12/08/2022 from Water Sport Complex, Aberdeen Bazaar under “Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign”, the Government of India initiative to inculcate a personal connect between the citizens of India and the National Flag marking the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman commemorated the function by flagging off the rally in the presence of Shri. Hari Kallikkat, IAS, Secretary (A&C), Shri. Ankit Yadav, IAS, Additional District Magistrate and Shri. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate.

This is a unique initiative of the A & N Administration where all boat owners very actively participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Tourism is the main livelihood of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and boat operators plays a crucial role in tourism sector along with creating employment opportunity to number of people. This was one of a kind event which was celebrated with the active participation of the boat operators.

The Boat rally kick started from Aberdeen Jetty and went to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Island thereafter till Flag Point and culminated at Aberdeen Jetty.

The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman on behalf of District Administration has lauded the efforts of Boat Owner’s Association, A & N Islands for conduct of the event with full enthusiasm.
