Port Blair, Aug 12: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded sufficient numbers of buses for the STS unit of Diglipur, so that adequate numbers of buses can be operated for students and the general public.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, he mentioned that there is a huge shortage of buses in the State Transport Department (STS) unit for the residents of Diglipur.

He added due to the shortage of buses, the general public, especially school students, office goers, ladies, old age people and medical patients are suffering heavily.

He mentioned that hundreds of students have been suffering maximum pain because of overcrowded buses in the morning hours. Buses with limited capacity of passengers usually remain overcrowded, which is neither convenient nor safe for school students, considering the ongoing pandemic.

The Member of Parliament added that due to shortage of buses many students reach school after the first or second period.
