Port Blair, Aug 14: As part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrating 75 years of Independence, ships of Indian Navy, Coast Guard and DSS would be at anchorage on 15 Aug 22. The occasion would serve to showcase the maritime assets at their colourful best on the occasion of the 75th year of Independence. The event is being organised by Andaman and Nicobar Command in coordination with the civil administration and Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS).  The ships would be visual from Flag Point, Port Blair as well as Marina Park for all Islanders.

The events on 15 Aug 22 would commence with simultaneous hoisting of the tri-colour on the ships as part of #HarGharTiranga campaign followed by the ceremonial ‘Dressing Overall’ of all ships with colourful flags at 0700 hrs, giving a vibrant and spectacular overview from the Marina park.  These flags and pennants would be adorned by the ships all through the day. At sunset, the tri-colour and the flags would be lowered simultaneously in a customary manner. This would be followed by synchronised illumination of all the ships with firing of multi coloured flares at 1800 hrs.

The silhouette of ships in the background would get transformed to a well-lit contour lighting of all the ships. The ships would remain illuminated till 2200 hrs for all spectators.
