Port Blair, Sept 20: The Secretary (Agri), A&N Administration, Shri Pankaj Kumar, IAS inaugurated a four days off Campus training programme on ‘Waste Management in Agri.& Allied Sectors’ for the officers of Agriculture and allied Departments of A&N Islands today in the Conference Hall of Directorate of Agriculture, Haddo. The programme is being organized by Extension Education Institute, PJTSU, Hyderabad in association with Department of Agriculture, A&N Administration.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary (Agri) motivated the participants to participate actively and acquire the scientific knowledge through agricultural waste management training program, for its effective implementation in the field. Since agriculture is on a large scale, the agricultural wastes generated cannot be ignored and proper care has to be taken to decompose it through the agricultural waste management program.

The Joint Director (Agri), HQ, Dr (Smti) Chanda Srivastava stressed upon the need of such training for extension functionaries of scheme implementing departments while Dr I.  Sreenivasa  Rao, Senior Professor,  EEI briefed about the course contents of the training & insisted for transfer of knowledge & skills learned for the benefit of farming community. Dr. R. Vasantha, Professor, EEI proposed the vote of thanks.

Altogether 30 officers from Agriculture & Allied Departments i.e. Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Fisheries and   Rural Development are participating in the training programme.
