Port Blair, Sept. 22: Indian Navy’s Mid-Year Refit Review (MYRR) and Mid -Year Infrastructure and Indigenisation Review (MYIIR) of 2022 for Eastern Naval Command and Andaman & Nicobar Command was inaugurated by Lt Gen Ajai Singh, AVSM, Commander-in–Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command on 21 Sep 22 at Naval Ship Repair Yard, Port Blair. The review chaired by Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Material, was attended by representatives of Naval Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command, HQ ANC, Repair yards, Material Organizations, Naval Trials and Acceptance Authority (NATAA) and Indian Navy Ship Maintenance Authority (INSMA).
In consonance with Efficient Refit Management philosophy of IN, discussions were focused on improving the refit processes of ships. The Chief of Material in his keynote address emphasized the need for embracing contemporary technologies while adhering to good engineering practices whilst implementing measures to reduce refit timelines.
The MYRR & MYIIR concluded on 22 Dec 22 with detailed discussions on transforming maintenance policies to keep Naval Ships combat ready, augmenting infrastructure to meet growing requirements of the Navy and maximizing efforts towards indigenization to reduce dependency on foreign manufacturers /OEMs.
