Diglipur, Sept. 25: A Community Interaction Programme for fishing community of Smith Island was conducted by Diglipur based Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters on 25 September 2022. During the session the fishermen were educated on the safety aspects while operating at sea, importance of adhering to weather warnings, use of Coast Guard toll free helpline No 1554 for seeking assistance for 'search and rescue' at sea.

A medical camp was also organised in conjunction with the said event, wherein Doctors from Community Health Centre, Diglipur along with Doctors of Coast Guard provided free consultation diagnosis and treatment to patients to bring health awareness to communities that have less access to health care services. An oral cancer screening was also undertaken in the camp. Patients requiring further treatment were referred to CHC, a communication from CHC Diglipur informed here.
