Port Blair, Sept. 29: It has been observed that the residents of area falling under jurisdiction of outlying Islands have to visit the Head Quarter situated at Port Blair for the works related to Transport Department such as Driving Licenses, it's renewal, registration of motor vehicles, fitness of vehicles, transfer of ownership etc. leading to inconvenience, additional expenditure and waste of time for the citizens.
In order to resolve the issues by simplifying the procedure and to facilitate the citizen staying in outlying Islands, the Transport Department has taken an initiative to accept all the documents in complete shape from the applicants of outer Islands in the respective STS offices functioning in the Islands. Officials of Transport Department have been directed to render all guidance to the general public in the processing of applications correctly.
The general public can seek guidance about the legal provisions and procedures related to Motor Vehicle Section/ Permit Section from the offices of Transport Department functioning in the Islands. General public has been advised to submit the documents related to the services rendered by Transport Department in the STS Offices and the outcome of service will be delivered by the local Transport Office to the applicant directly.
