Cooperative Department Organises Training-cum-Seminar for Construction Cooperative Societies

Port Blair, Sept. 30: A one-day Training-cum-Seminar for Construction Cooperative Societies of Port Blair and Ferrargunj Tehsils was organized by the Cooperative Department in collaboration with the Andaman & Nicobar State Coop Union, Teylerabad today in the auditorium of Tagore Govt. College of Education. Nearly 50 members/board of directors from various construction cooperative societies/ officers/officials of the Cooperative Department attended the training.

Shri Raajesh Goyal, Secretary (Coop)-cum-RCS, A & N Administration inaugurated the training-cum-seminar.  Shri Anant Rao, Vice-Chairman of A & N State Coop Union, Shri P. G. Paul General Secretary of A & N State Coop Union, Shri Mohan, Assistant General Manager, NABARD and representatives of Construction Cooperative Societies were also present.

In his inaugural address, the Secretary (Coop)-cum-RCS informed that the Cooperative Department had earlier organized similar training-cum-seminars for other sectors of Cooperative Societies viz. housing and Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS).  The aim for organizing such seminar is to understand the root cause of the problems/ issues being faced by the Cooperative Societies so that the same can be resolved. The Secretary (Coop)-cum-RCS giving reference to best functioning Cooperative Societies of mainland advised to work unitedly for the upliftment of the Cooperative Societies. The Secretary (Coop)-cum-RCS assured the members of the construction cooperative societies that the problems/issued being faced by them will be looked into for early settlement. 

NABARD imparted information on employment generations through Cooperatives and also gave information of the schemes available with NABARD. The representative from the A & N State Coop Union, Teylerabad provided information on adoption of viable projects for sustainability. A session on book keeping and maintenance of accounts of the Cooperatives was conducted by the faculty of JNRM College to equip the Board of Directors and members of the said Construction Cooperative Societies with the knowledge on maintenance of records /books of the cooperative society.
