Diglipur, Sept. 30: A mass awareness programme on the Women Rights and Women Empowerment was organized by N&MA District police on 30/09/2022 at Panchayat Community Hall of Kishori Nagar village with the school students of Govt. Senior Secondary School Kishori Nagar & Secondary School Parangara, PRI members, Anganwadi workers and Helpers, Auxiliary Nurse and Mid-wives from PHC, Kishori Nagar, general public and mothers of adolescence girls.
Shri. Uttam Kirtania, Learned Additional Public Prosecutor, Mayabunder, Shri. Keshab Ch. Mondal, Learned Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO), Mayabunder, Dr. Priyanka Iqbal, Medical Officer (Ayush), Dr. RP Hospital, Mayabunder was present to cover legal and medical point of view.
Shri Manasvi Vashistha, DANIPS, SDPO, Diglipur, Shri. Chandra Prakash Meena, DANIPS, Dy.SP (DHQ), Shri. R.P Pandey, Deputy Education Officer, Diglipur and Smti. Rita Dhali, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Kishori Nagar also joined to make the programme successful.
On the occasion, Ld. Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) highlighted on the topic of POCSO Act especially the safeguards of victims, Ld. Additional Public Prosecutor gave special tips on “how to reduce domestic violence upon women and it’s remedial as well as consequences in the society” at large and Dr. Priyanka Iqbal gave a special counselling to mothers and their daughters on the issues of adolescence.
The School students in association with teachers presented a “Nukkad Natak” on the theme of Domestic Violence and POCSO. The Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Kishori Nagar expressed her gratitude to District Police for organizing such awareness programme in a remote locality and highlighted the benefits of this awareness program organized by the senior officer of the district.
On behalf of the Director General of Police, A&N Islands, the Superintendent of Police N&MA District presented the Commendation Certificate to the fishermen namely Shri. Badal Roy and Shri. Thakur Roy R/o Kishori Nagar who voluntarily came forward and joined the anti-poaching operation of district police which led to successful apprehension of 6 Myanmarese poachers from Budha Gope area. For their courage, hard work and challenging efforts, the DGP A&N Island rewarded them with cash reward of Rs.5000/- each.
In the concluding session of the programme, Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police (D), Mayabunder interacted with students and women and also addressed the gathering and reminded about of women rights and how to redress their grievances. She also expressed her deep concern regarding the problems being faced by the women especially residing the remote areas of this District. She especially focused on women/girl child education & good & thoughtful upbringings of young girls & boys who will build tomorrows society. SP District N&MA also informed the gathering about a new initiative of district police to resolve family dispute/issues i.e “SULAH SAMEETI” being made operational in each Police Station from 09.00 a.m to 05.00 p.m. Sulah Sameeti will work directly under the close monitoring of SP madam. The sole purpose of this initiative is to keep resolve small families issues which result into broken homes in long term. It is an sincere effort to save as many marriages/homes as far as possible.
