Rangat, Oct. 28 Adopting Tuberculosis patients under the newly launched Ni-kshay Mitra Scheme, the NGO, Sammati, Rangat today distributed ration articles to 6 patients at a function held at the conference hall of CHC Rangat.

The program was presided over by Shri P Prasad, President, Sammati. Miss Sita Maji, Pramukh Panchayat Samiti Rangat was the chief guest on this Occasion.

The programme was also attended by Shri R Bhoomi, Shri Bhaskar Rao, ex PRI Members of Rangat, Shri P Prakash Program Coordinator, Sammathi and officials from CHC Rangat namely Dr. P. Manoj Dental Suregon and Dr. B. Bindu Kumar, Medical Officer CHC Rangat.

It is no secret that India has the highest burden of those infected with tuberculosis in the world – with a total of 13,50,442 registered patients across the country.

Of these, at least 9,79,324 registered patients have consented to receiving support under the newly launched Ni-kshay Mitra or 'adopt a TB patient' scheme.

Launched on 9 September, Ni-kshay Mitra is a crowd-sourced programme that allows organisations and individuals to 'adopt' TB patients, and support them directly with nutrition supplies, and vocational training.

The scheme shall help propel the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), by bringing India closer to its goal of eliminating the disease by 2025

Shri. P.Prasad, President of the NGO, Dr.B.Bindu Kumar, Smt.V.Leena ICTC, Counsellor and Smt. Meenakashi Paul, Sr. Treatment Supervisor addressed the gathering on the occasion and apprised the participants about Tuberculosis and the Scheme launched by the government.
