Port Blair, Nov. 11: As part of the sensitization on cleanliness among the islanders the Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre, Anthropological Survey of India, Port Blair carried out a special cleanliness programme in collaboration with India Tourism, Ministry of Tourism, Port Blair today. Special cleanliness drive was carried out by clearing the bushes and garbage from the premises of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Port Blair. The ashram children took part in this cleanliness drive and a message was given to the children towards sensitizing about cleanliness of the surroundings where they live in.  

To mark this occasion a few fruit plants were planted in the premises of the Ashram by the dignitaries present there viz. Shri Ramakrishnan, Assistant Director India Tourism, Dr. Nilanjan Khatua, Head of Office, Anthropological Survey of India. Among the other participants were Dr Sumitabha Chakraborty, Shri Gitu Yaikhom, Ms. Suman Ravindran, Shri Muthu Pandi of Anthropological Survey of India and Dr Vivek Sahu, Assistant Professor, JNRM.
