Keralapuram, Nov. 11: The visitors to the exhibition held at Govt. Secondary School, Keralapuram were enthralled by the creative models showcased today. Applauding the students for their work, the Chief Guest, the Deputy Education Officer, Shri R.P Pandey said that the “Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan” is a national programme, which aims at providing opportunities to the students to showcase their talents. He said that money should not be an obstacle, that's why financial assistance is also provided to the students to develop their models in Science, Mathematics, Art and craft. This Exhibition is an example of the success of this Abhiyan, he said. Congratulating the school, Shri Pandey said that the exhibition is an example of its successful endevour, in bringing out the hidden talent of the children of this rural region. He called upon the students to develop confidence among themselves.

He said that he finds no reason why after putting up such wonderful innovative projects, the students hesitate to express. He urged the students to sharpen their communication skills in parallel.

The Guest of Honour, the Principal of Subhashgram School, Shri N. Nehru too had special words for the students of this rural pocket. He said that the students are very talented and they can compete at any level.

The Jury member Shri Peter Arockiasamy after visiting the Exhibition, said that some of the projects developed by the students to transform the theoretical concepts learnt in the classes into real life situations, reflect their in-depth understanding of the subject. At the same time the models depicting the menace of air pollution and its remedy, show their sensitivity towards saving Environment. He hoped that the working models of G. Bhavan and Kumari Shilpi Das would inspire other students in many ways.

The Principal of the Institution, Shri B.V.R Reddy sharing his experience said that presently the school is a cluster Resource Centre for 16 schools, which belong to the villages having poor or average socio-economic backgrounds. This institution strives to provide quality education opportunities to the students from Ram Krishna Gram to the remote Lamiya Bay village.

The school was established way back in the year 1958, and during this journey it has produced many alumni, who have been serving different sectors of the society, holding prestigious positions. Some of them have the distinction of serving the Islands, as the Directors of the Government departments, the proud Principal Shri BVR Reddy informed.

More than 60 models were displayed in the exhibition of which the best ones will be selected for the zonal level competition and later will represent the district and the state level exhibition to be held at Port Blair next month.
