Vehicle Ferry Services Will Open up New Doors for Tourism in the Island: Sharma

Port Blair, Nov. 25: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to operate vehicle ferry vessel on daily basis between Yeretta Jetty and Long Island so that people willing to visit Long Island can easily take their four or two wheelers to Long Island and explore the Island and return in the same vehicle ferry.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that Long Island has immense potential for tourism due to its natural beauty and three famous beaches but the Island has failed to attract tourists mainly because of lack of connectivity.

Reaching Long Island is still a challenge for many and hence people of the Island could not reap the benefit of Tourism, he noted.

The Member of Parliament added that during his recent visit to Long Island he has interacted with local residents, who are anxiously waiting for some concrete steps from the side of Administration to make Long Island easily accessible for other Islanders as well as tourists.

He mentioned that daily vehicle ferry service will make Long Island easily accessible for the public and slowly more and more people and tourists will reach Long Island which will open new doors for tourism in the Island.

Tourism will certainly boost the local economy and many local youths of Long Island will be able to get employment, he added.
