Port Blair, Nov. 27: Scheme of Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids/Appliances (ADIP Scheme) is one of the major initiatives of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India to assist the needy Divyangjan in procuring durable and scientifically manufactured standard aids and appliances to promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation. Assistive devices are given to PwDs with the aim to improve their independent functioning, to arrest the extent of disability and occurrence of secondary disabilities.
A person with disabilities fulfilling the conditions mentioned would be eligible for assistance under ADIP Scheme viz. an Indian citizen of any age, holds a 40% Disability Certificate, his monthly income from all sources is up to Rs. 22,500/- per month, he or she shall be eligible for getting an assistance the full cost of the Aids and Appliances under ADIP Scheme. And if the total income is between Rs. 22,501/- to Rs. 30,000/- per month, he or she shall be eligible for getting 50% subsidy of the cost of Aids/Appliances under ADIP Scheme.
Income certificate from Revenue Agencies / BPL Card / MGNREGA Card / Disability Pension Card / Certificate by M.P./MLA/Councilor/Gram Pradhan failing which Notarized Affidavit C/o Implementing Agencies may be accepted for providing aids/ appliances to PwDs. Income certificate of beneficiaries staying in orphanages and half- way homes etc. may be accepted on certification of District Collector or Head of the organization concerned.
The documents required for availing the benefits under ADIP Scheme are recent colour passport size photograph (2 Nos), Disability Certificate (photo copy) and original for verification and entry purpose, Ration Card/Voter ID/Driving License (any one photo copy)- (of Parents/beneficiaries), Aadhaar Card (photo copy) for (beneficiaries/parents), valid mobile number (for beneficiaries/parents) and photocopy of Income Certificate. The Income Certificate should be valid as on date of distribution camp.
The aids & assistive devices provided under ADIP Scheme for Locomotor Disability are Tricycle, Wheel Chair (Adult), Wheel Chair (child), Auxiliary crutch (Large), Auxiliary crutch (Medium), Elbow crutch (Large), Rollator (Child), Walking Stick, CP Wheel Chair and Corner Chair. For hearing impairment, the equipments provided are Mild Class (BTE), Moderate Class (BTE) and Extra Strong Class (BTE). For visual impairment, the devices provided are Smart cane.
Universal Braille Slate, Braille Slate, Tylors Frame, Abacus, Hand Magnifier, Cricket Ball, Daisy Player & Android Tablet. Under intellectual disability, the aids provided are Teaching Learning Material TLM for 0-3 years, Teaching Learning Material TLM for 4-6 years, Teaching Learning Material TLM for 7-11 years and Teaching Learning Material TLM for 12-18 years.
Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Port Blair is implementing ADIP Scheme in this UT. The Centre has facilities for providing speech therapy, physiotherapy, vocational training, prosthetic and orthotic assessment, special education assessment and intellectual assessment by Psychology Department.
