SIT Submits 935 Pages Chargesheet in Gang Rape Case
Port Blair, Feb 5: Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by Andaman & Nicobar Police to investigate the sensational gang rape case FIR No 165/22 PS Aberdeen registered against a senior bureaucrat and other persons including a local high ranking official has submitted the chargesheet in the court on 3rd February 2023.
The case was registered on 01.10.22 by the orders of Hon'ble Court. Subsequently SIT comprising of a senior IPS officer as Chairperson and 5 other members was formed.
SIT conducted a thorough investigation examining around 90 witnesses and collected various electronic, technical and biological evidences. The electronic and biological evidences seized in the case have been sent to Forensic Lab for examination.
SIT has professionally investigated the case and used scientific methods and techniques including use of biological, electronic and technical evidence and the present chargesheet has been filed under sections 376/376 C/ 376D/354/328/201/ 506/120B/ 500/ 228A of the Indian Penal Code against the accused persons.
