Port Blair, Feb 6: Joining the nationwide protest, the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee held a massive protest on Monday 6th of February 2023 in front of LIC Main Office, Mohanpura demanding a probe in the Hindenburg Research report and against the forceful investments by LIC, SBI and other nationalized banks into Adani group.
Hundreds of Congress workers led by ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman ANTCC Shri. G Bhasker gathered in front of Life Insurance Corporation office and raised slogans against the BJP government and Adani group of Companies. The entire programme was hosted and Co-ordinated by the NSUI State President Mr. M.A Sajid.
Lashing out at the Centre over the Hindenburg report against Adani Enterprises,. Halder dubbed the stock crash a "Maha ghotala (scam) in Amrit Kaal" and questioned the government's "silence" over the issue. He has demanded an investigation into the matter under the supervision of CJI or Joint Parliamentary Committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhasker said that the issues raised by Shri. Rahul Gandhi from time to time have proved that he always spoke truth in national interest. He said the entire nation, especially the middle class is worried with the policies of the Modi government to benefit his close friends and selected billionaires at the cost of the common man's hard-earned savings.
He said that LIC has invested Rs 36,474.78 Crore and Indian banks have invested about Rs 80,000 crore in Adani Group. The extremely risky transactions and investments of government institutions like LIC and SBI in the Adani group by the Modi government has adversely affected the investors of India's 29 crore policy holders of LIC and 45 crore account holders of SBI. After the scam in Adani’s accounts came to the fore, the Congress is worried about the people of the country who have invested their hard earned money in these financial institutions.
ANTCC Spokesperson Mr. Tamil Selvam accused the Modi government at the Center of putting the hard earned money of the countrymen at risk to benefit his friends.
"We know that PSUs like LIC and SBI are our Nation's pride and built with hard earned money of Crores of Indians. With an intention to help his best friend the Modi government has forcefully made LIC, SBI and other public sector banks invest in the Adani Group", he added.
Speaking on the occasion, City Congress President Mr. Mohd. Zubair demanded an impartial investigation under the Chief Justice of India or a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe in the Hindenburg Research report, in detail and discussion in the Parliament and appropriate steps to be taken on forceful investments of LIC, SBI and other nationalized banks to the Adani Group.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Zilla Parishad Member Mrs. Mariyam Bibi, Mahila Congress South Andaman Coordinator Mrs. Zubaida Begum and Ex-DCC General Secretary Mr. Abibhushan Ghosh.
