Port Blair, March 19: A financial literacy cum Awareness Program for college students and first time entrepreneurs on Government Sponsored Scheme and Flagship Schemes of Government of India was conducted by State Bank of India on 18th March 2023 at 2.30 PM at Tagore Government College of Education Auditorium, Middle Point, Port Blair. Shri C Arvind, Secretary (Finance), was conceded as Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Secretary Finance urged the students to dream big and take the opportunities of various schemes available with banks for self-growth. He also advised the students to set a goal of becoming big entrepreneur and get huge benefit of the available opportunity under Tourism sector and contribute to the economy of our UT.

During the program, Sanction letters handed over to 8 Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna beneficiaries for RS. 42.65 Lcas, 17 PMEGP beneficiaries for Rs. 102.65 lacs, 2 Stand up India beneficiaries for Rs. 38.80 lacs, 1 NULM beneficiary for Rs. 1.00 lacs, 1 PMFME beneficiary for Rs. 23.00 lacs, 4 PM SVANidhi beneficiaries for Rs. 1.20 lacs and 28 Pre-Approved Business Loan for Rs. 379.80 lacs. All total 61 sanction letter for RS. 5.88 Cr was distributed to the entrepreneurs by the Shri C Arvind.

Detailed presentation on various schemes done for the benefits the students like Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna (PMMY), Stand up India(SUI), Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Program (PMEGP), Prdhan Mantri Scheme for Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises(PMFME), Pradhan mantra Suraksha Bima Yojna(PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyothi Bima Yojna(PMJJBY),  Atal Pension Yojna(APY) and Education loan.

The meeting was also addressed by Shri Prabhas Bose, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of India, Shri Suman Bakshi, Regional Manager, State Bank of India, Port Blair and officials from Industries Department. The program started with welcome address by Shri C Raj, Chief Manager, SBI and concluded by vote of thanks by Shri P K Ummer Farooq, Lead Bank Manager.
