Port Blair, March 19: Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Secretary RD/ Deputy Commissioner (SA) accompanied with ADM (SA), SDM (SA), Up-Adhyaksh Zilla Parishad (SA), Director RD, BDO Prothrapur, Tehsildar Port Blair, Pradhan GP Beodnabad/Calicut, Panchayat Samiti Member, PRI members, visited various places where ongoing works on different schemes are being executed such as SWM Cluster Beodnabad. In the first instance the representative of Gram Panchayat briefed the officials on operations of Solid Waste Management cluster and further informed that around 500 kg of waste is being bailed on each working day.

Thereafter they proceeded to visit PMAY Cluster Kodiyaghat where in altogether 69 Landless Beneficiaries are provided financial assistance of Rs 1,20,000/-to construct houses under Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Grameen), South Andaman. During the visit she directed all officials to complete the project at the earliest and also take up the matter with bank to provide financial support on the basis of Differential Rate of Interest (DRI) Loans to those who are having financial issues for completion of projects. She also instructed that to make this cluster a Model Village with all basic amenities. In this regard it was directed that approach road may be taken up under MGNREGA and Community Sanitary Complex may be constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) and project pertaining to drainage system may be taken up through the Gram Panchayat.

The Secretary (RD)/Deputy Commissioner (SA) inspected the ongoing MGNREGA work of Amrit Sarovar Pond in PMAY Cluster at Kodiyagaht under GP Beodnabad. She directed the Block Development Officer, C.D Block Prothrapur to take up beautification of Pond with the line department i.e., Agriculture Department for plantation around the pond and Forest Department to provide eco-friendly benches to be installed surrounding the pond.

Further she inspected the Dam at Lal Mitti under Gram Panchayat Calicut and directed the officials of APWD to submit the detailed proposal for future development of the said dam.

During the visit she directed all the officers to facilitate projects through various schemes to improve the living standards of the local populace.

The Pradhan Beodnabad and Calicut appreciated and thanked the District Administration for the filed visit to address the grievances at the grass root level.
