Port Blair, March 23: Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Secretary RD/ Deputy Commissioner (SA) accompanied with ADM (SA), SDM (SA), Director (RD), BDO Ferrargunj, Tehsildar Ferrargunj, Zilla Parishad Member, Pradhans of Gram Panchayat Hopetown/Bambooflat-I/Bambooflat-II & Shore Point and PRI members. She took stock of various development works which are being executed on the field.

Field visit started with interaction with IOC officials at Gram Panchayat Hopetown. During the interaction matter pertaining to land allotment was discussed and it was assured that necessary support from the District Administration. She inspected the site proposed for a playground for the benefit of the villagers of Chunnabatta village. She gave directions to the Sub Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman to take up the matter on priority.

Thereafter she inspected the existing pond, the Pradhan demanded to renovate the same under MGNREGA, for which she issued instructions to the officials of MGNREGA to take up the work and to be completed before the onset of monsoon by engaging more labourers.

Further she inspected the site which is proposed for construction of Playground for the local populace of Hopetown village. She then visited the SWM Cluster at Shore Point, the representative of Gram Panchayat informed that garbage is being collected from total 06 Gram Panchayats i.e., GP Hope Town, Bambooflat-I, Bambooflat-II, Shore Point, Stewartgunj & Kanyapuram. The PRI members demanded for separate segregation unit each and it was further informed that no suitable land is available for said segregation. After deliberated discussions she directed the BDO, Ferrargunj to submit the detail proposal in consultation with the respective PRIs and also to submit proposal of specified land for segregation of waste in respect of all Panchayats within the cluster. Thereafter she inspected the site which is proposed for construction of Gram Panchayat Bhawan near Temple at Gram Panchayat Bambooflat-I.

The Pradhan Hopetown, Bambooflat-I, Shorepoint & Bambooflat-II and other PRI members expressed their gratitude and thanked the District Administration for the field visit to address the grievances at the grass root level.
