Port Blair, March 26: As part of the nation-wide campaign for the 5th April 2023 Mazdoor Kisan Sangharsh Rally in Delhi, CITU leaders B. Chandrachoodan, SP Kalairajan, PK Khalid and Shipra Bala addressed a series of meetings of workers at Rangat, Betapur and Kadamtala recently.

At Rangat, a well-attended meeting of workers of different departments was held. Addressing the meeting, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU State Committee explained in detail the 14 point demands on which the nation-wide campaign is being carried out by the workers and farmers.   Shri SP Kalairajan, Smt Shipra Bala and Shri PK Khalid, Secretaries of CITU State Committee and Shri C. Karuppaiah, Secretary, Rangat Zonal Committee of CITU addressed the meeting. They also addressed a meeting of ASHA workers of Middle Andaman area.  

A meeting of the Middle Andaman Forest Employees Union was held at Betapur which was attended by a large number of Forest workers and employees.   The activities of the Union have been revived in order to take up the pending issues of the workers of Middle Andaman Division.   

A meeting of the workers was organized by the Kadamtala-Baratang Zonal Committee of CITU at Kadamtala which was also attended by a large number of workers working in APWD, Forest and Electricity Departments. Speaking at these meetings, CITU leaders criticized the BJP-led central government and its Administration in the islands for neglecting the various genuine demands of the working class in the islands.
