Port Blair, Sept. 21: The Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) in co-ordination with Blood Center, G.B. Pant Hospital, Directorate of Health Services rendered its support to the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Department of Community Medicine, ANIIMS, Port Blair to organize blood donation camp at BJP Bhawn, Port Blair on 20/9/2023. All together 45 units of blood were donated by the donors.
The camp was organized under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society and Director, State Blood Transfusion Council, A & N Islands.
The Blood Donation camp was facilitated by the Dr. Shahina Mustaquim, Deputy Director (BS)/Medical Officer i/c. The donors were examined for their eligibility to donate blood and were briefed on various aspect and importance of blood donation.
Shri N. K. Udhaya Kumar, State President, BJYM, A & N Islands and Dr. Vivin Vincent, Professor & Head of the Department, ANIIMS organized the camps and made arrangement for conducting the camp successfully.
The technical team from Blood Center, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair and A & N AIDS Control Society ensured that the donated blood units are screened for the blood transmissible diseases. They also examined the donors for eligibility criteria. Donors certificate were also distributed to the voluntary donors.
