Port Blair, Jan. 22: As part of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative, ICDS Urban Project, South Andaman organized programmes at Ward No. 23, Bird Line and Vivekananda Youth Club at Dairy Farm on Jan.20. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, a flagship initiative of the Govt. of India launched in 2015, aims to prevent gender-based sex-selective elimination, ensuring the survival and protection of the girl child and promoting improved education outcomes. As part of this initiative, sports event was organized at Ward No. 23, Bird Line, in which, Smt. Radhika Dheeraj, Councilor, Ward No. 23 was the chief guest.
Smt. Zarina Bibi, CDPO (Urban Project), welcomed the gathering and provided an overview of the program and the objectives of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative. At Vivekananda Youth Club Ground, Dairy Farm, about 40 adolescent girls took part in the sports events.
