Port Blair, June 19: The Department of Social Welfare is committed to the welfare of the venerable sections of society and it ensured that all the beneficiaries are being paid Social Security Pension on monthly basis through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.

The Department is also the State Nodal Agency of the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands for implementation of National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) of Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India for disbursement of Pension to the beneficiaries, viz-a-viz, Old Age Pension, Widow Pension and Disability Pension.

As per NSAP Guidelines October, 2014, for effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation the Scheme, Advisory Committees at National, State & District Level are being proposed wherein independent experts and representatives of NGOs are co-opted as members of the Advisory Committee at State and District Level.

Accordingly, applications have been invited from the all the independent experts and representatives of NGOs who are actively working in the above mentioned field and registered under NGO Darpan Portal or otherwise, to apply along with relevant testimonials and details of their organization to the Directorate of Social Welfare for consideration of their membership to the State Level Advisory Committee of National Social Assistance Programme within a period of 15 days from the date of publication of this press release.
