Yoga symbolizes the universal aspiration for attaining good health and well-being. It represents a state of equilibrium and has been an integral part of our lifestyle since ancient times. By combining mental and physical disciplines, yoga helps maintain the body's flexibility through various postures. The Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, in collaboration with experts, has developed the "Common Yoga Protocol" (CYP) to ensure uniformity and harmony during the International Day of Yoga. The CYP includes daily yoga practices aimed at raising awareness about achieving peace, harmony, and well-being through yoga techniques such as Yoga Nidra, Pranayama, and Dhyan. The Ministry has also created and publicized digital resources like CYP videos, the Namaste Yoga App, the Y-Break App, the Yoga Calendar, and the Yoga Dictionary for public use.

This year's International Day of Yoga, theme "Yoga for Self and Society", focuses on the profound impact yoga can have on our lives and the global community. Yoga as a holistic practice shall go beyond the geographical boundaries and unite people in the pursuit of holistic mental and physical health and well-being.

In addition to its global reach, the International Day of Yoga will focus on bringing yoga to every town and village in India through the active participation of Gram Panchayats, Gram Sabhas, and Municipal Bodies.     These bodies will promote women empowerment by organizing mass yoga sessions with maximum participation at strategic locations across the islands of this Union Territory. This year the vision of our Hon'ble Prime Minister is for raising the awareness towards promotion of cultivation and consumption of millets - Shree Anna for improving the public health on one hand and to boost the income of our small and marginalized farmers on the other.

I encourage everyone to incorporate yoga practices into their daily routines for reaping the health benefits of Self as well as the Society.

Jai Hind!
