Mayabunder, June 21: To commemorate the 10th International Day of Yoga 2024, Yoga Day was celebrated at 15 identified venues in North and Middle Andaman District, covering all Health & Wellness Centers, Government Departments, and Anganwadi Centers. This event was organized in coordination with the District Health Society, North & Middle Andaman with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty staff, PRIs, school students, ASHAs, and the general public.

The participants engaged in Yogasanas, Kapalbhati, Pranayama, Dhyan, Sankalpa, and Meditation, as per the Common Yoga Protocol issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

At the District level, the main function was held at Fish Landing Centre, Pokkadera. Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, along with Shri C. Sundaresan Pillai, Tehsildar, Mayabunder, and Shri Bappi Choudhary, Inspector, Fire Service, Mayabunder, inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. This was followed by a long practice session demonstrating various asanas. Faculty, staff, and students participated enthusiastically during the practice sessions.

The Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, briefed the attendees on the essence of yogic exercises on individual health and addressed the gathering about yoga's benefits in everyday life. He highlighted the potential for customization to suit individual needs. He also delivered a talk on ‘Towards Excellence’, enlightening participants about the scientific relevance and importance of yoga in our lives.
