Port Blair, July 23: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Shri. Rangalal Halder has raised a critical concern regarding the accommodation of the pregnant women who are referred from inter-islands to Port Blair.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Halder highlighted the significant challenges these women and their families face in securing suitable accommodation during their stay for medical consultations and treatments at Port Blair.
"These women, often accompanied by their families, encounter considerable difficulties in finding suitable places to stay. This adds to their stress and affects their health and delivery process," Halder stated. He noted that many of these families incur substantial expenses on rented rooms during their extended stays, adding to their financial burden.
In light of this pressing issue, Shri. Halder has urged the Administration to consider providing dedicated accommodation facilities, such as rooms or hostels, specifically for these inter-island pregnant women, ensuring they receive necessary care without the added stress of finding accommodation.
