Mayabunder, July 23: In a dedicated effort to combat malnutrition among children, the District Administration, North & Middle Andaman distributed nutritional kits to all identified malnourished children at all the three sub-divisional levels. This distribution coincided with the launch of the ‘Kuposhan Mukt Panchayat’ campaign by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS.
During the launch event, the Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, highlighted the significance of providing immediate nutritional support to malnourished children as a crucial step towards eradicating malnutrition. The distribution of these kits, which include essential vitamins, minerals, and food supplements, underscores the Administration's commitment to improving the health and well-being of the younger population. "Ensuring that our children receive the necessary nutrition is our top priority. The distribution of these nutritional kits is a tangible action that reflects our dedication to fostering a healthier and brighter future for the N&MA District," stated Shri Dilkhush Meena.
For smooth implementation of the initiative a Standard Operating Protocol has been framed with roles and responsibilities for different stakeholders, and emphasis has been given on the roles of Panchayats and public representatives for implementation and awareness on the ground level, the three tier committee will ensure time to time assessment and monitoring of the initiative.
Around 2000 nutritional kits have been arranged by the District Administration under CSR contribution, 650 kits each month will be distributed to Aanganwadi Workers for the identified children for next three months. Every month assessment of the children will be taken to assess the nutritional level in the child for further point of intervention specifically.
The best performing Aanganwadi Workers will be incentivise under the initiative and after the end of the initiative best performing Panchayats will be awarded by the District Administration. The initiative aims to create a robust support system at the grassroots level, ensuring sustainable nutritional health for all children in the region.
