Hut Bay, July 25: Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (SA)/Chairman, District Health Society, and Shri Vinayak Chamidia, IAS, SDM (SA), inaugurated two significant health campaigns aimed at improving health outcomes across South Andaman District.
The Kuposhan Mukth District Abhiyan and Anemia Mukth District Abhiyan were officially launched at Ayushman Arogya Mandir/PHC, Hutbay, marking a pivotal step in addressing malnutrition and anemia among vulnerable populations.
The Kuposhan Mukth District Abhiyan focuses on combating malnutrition by providing essential nutritional support to malnourished children and pregnant women and Nutrient-rich diet kits will be distributed to improve overall health and combat nutritional deficiencies effectively. Simultaneously, the Anemia Mukth District Abhiyan aims to reduce anemia prevalence among pregnant women through targeted interventions such as iron and folic acid supplementation and regular health check-ups.
These campaigns are a collaborative effort involving the District Health Society, South Andaman, the Directorate of Health Services, and a specialized medical team from ANIIMS, Port Blair. This partnership ensures the availability of expert healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive medical care during the campaigns.
The inauguration of these campaigns coincided with the launch of a Reproductive Child Health (RCH) Camp at PHC Hutbay under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman. The camp aimed to enhance access to reproductive and child health services for women and children in the region, emphasizing antenatal care, immunizations, and family planning counseling.
During the inauguration, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS highlighted the importance of community involvement and encouraged NGOs, individuals, and firms to step forward and adopt malnourished and anemic women by providing nutrition kits. This initiative aims to supplement government efforts and ensure sustained support to improve health outcomes for these vulnerable groups.
The Deputy Commissioner/Chairman, District Health Society, South Andaman reiterated the administration's commitment to improving health outcomes and ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all residents of South Andaman District. He commended the dedication and hard work of healthcare professionals and specialists from ANIIMS and the Directorate of Health Services for their support in achieving these healthcare goals.
