Port Blair, July 26: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Mr. Rangalal Halder has addressed a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District, requesting for opening, Allotment of quarry works tenders, and the issuance of a gravelly soil permit at Hutbay Panchayat.
In his letter, Halder emphasized the critical need for these permissions to meet the increased demand for construction materials in the region. He stated that the reopening of these facilities is essential for supporting ongoing development projects and addressing local needs.
"For the past six months, the prolonged inactivity has caused significant inconvenience to the peoples and has demoralized the Panchayat members who are keen to contribute positively to the people of the Island. It is crucial to expedite the process of granting the necessary permissions to resume work at the earliest," Halder mentioned.
Additionally, he has highlighted the need for the timely allocation of funds for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The absence of funds has hindered the implementation of various employment-generating projects under the scheme, leaving many workers without work opportunities.
Halder further requested for immediate intervention of the Deputy Commissioner to resolve these issues and facilitate the smooth functioning at Hutbay Panchayat.
