Port Blair, July 28: The AYUSH Wing of DHS, A&N Administration organized a ‘Geriatric Health Care Camp’ and an ‘Exhibition on Millets –Shree Anna’ on 16th July, 2024 at Anganwadi Centre, Macca Pahad. About 40 residents of New Bimblitan and surrounding areas received comprehensive health care services through Ayushman Arogya Mandir -AAM (AYUSH).
The key highlights of the health camp were Doctor’s Consultation through Homoeopathy, Ayurveda and Yoga, Screening for Hypertension, Diabetes, Anaemia through Clinical examination and Blood Tests. An exhibition on Millets and its recipe was also set up for general public, with the support of AWW, ANM and ASHAs.
The chief guest Smt. Pachiammal, Samiti Member, Gram Panchayat Beodnabad remarked that a healthy population of the elderly strengthens the nation at large and stated that the success of such camp lies in its ability. The guest of honor, Shri Mahendra Pal, Senior GTT, Govt. Middle School, New Bimblitan, lauded the initiative as a crucial step towards answering holistic healthcare accessibility in remote areas
In the inaugural session, Dr. Reena Saha, CHO, Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AYUSH)-New Bimblitan, welcomed the gathering and detailed about the objectives behind conducting such health camps. Dr. Shafique, MO (Homoeopathy) PHC Garacharma explained briefly about the various non-communicable disease and laid stress on the importance of physical exercises, healthy habits and urged the villagers to take utmost benefit from Homoeopathy system of treatment. Dr. Ankush Paul, Senior Research Fellow, CCRAS, Port Blair, urged the villagers to make millets a potential dietary supplement and explained about its nutritional advantages especially for the elderly.
