Port Blair, Aug 2: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Andaman and Nicobar Islands organized a distribution camp to provide essential assistive devices at free of cost under the Assistance to Persons with Disabilities for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) scheme. The event took place at CRC A&N Islands located in Brookshabad.
The distribution camp focused on enhancing accessibility and empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) by distributing digital programmable hearing aids and Teaching Learning Materials Kits. This initiative was part of the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life and inclusivity for individuals facing various disabilities across the region. Shri L. Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Social Welfare, A&N Administration, was the chief guest on the occasion. His participation underscored the Government's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote welfare and integration of PWDs into mainstream society.

The distribution of digital programmable hearing aids for persons with hearing impairment and Teaching Learning Materials for persons with intellectual disabilities were significant highlights of the distribution event. Shri Harimathi, Senior Audiologist from the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities in Chennai, played a pivotal role in the event. He meticulously programmed and fitted hearing aids for the beneficiaries, ensuring personalized support that meets their specific auditory needs. Approximately, 22 beneficiaries from diverse backgrounds and regions of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands benefited from the distribution camp. Each recipient received personalized attention and care, reflecting CRC A&N Islands' dedication to fostering inclusivity and accessibility.
