Port Blair, Aug 8: The Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services successfully conducted a 3-day First Aid Firefighting and Disaster Management (DM) training program from 6th to 8th August 2024 at the Fire & Emergency Services (HQ). Smt. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP (Fire), graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
The Chief Guest interacted with the participants, appreciating their dedication and successful completion of the training. She emphasized the importance of such training for personal and community safety. Chief Guest encouraged the youth, particularly female participants, to join the Fire Mitra scheme and contribute to the community and Fire Service. Observing the large youth turnout, she urged them to take advantage of this opportunity for learning and to share their knowledge with their peers, noting that this is the right age for learning and implementing these skills. The Chief Guest also commended the efforts of the A & N Fire and Emergency Services.
The training included live demonstrations of fire extinguishers and their operations, providing hands-on experience to all participants. Participants were introduced to various activities of the Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services, including the Fire Control Room, and operational techniques of Water Tender, Rescue Tender, and Disaster Management equipment such as Search & Rescue equipment, Chain Saw, Concrete Cutter, Air Lifting Bag, and Combi Tools.
During the felicitation ceremony, certificates were distributed to 79 participants. The comprehensive training aimed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to fire emergencies and manage disasters.
This initiative highlights the commitment of the A & N Fire and Emergency Services to enhancing community safety through education and preparedness.
