Port Blair, Aug 8: In light of the ongoing monsoon season and the severe damage it has inflicted on the city roads of Port Blair and its surrounding areas, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, former Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration for early repair of roads.
Taking up this matter with the Chief Secretary, Sharma highlighted the dire state of most road stretches in the city, many of which have developed large potholes and have become dangerously damaged. He emphasized that these conditions are causing significant hardship for residents, particularly daily office-goers and school students, who face increased risks while commuting on these unsafe roads.
“With ongoing Monsoon Islanders fear that the situation will become bad to worse if the road repair works are not carried out now,” he added.
The former Member of Parliament requested the Chief Secretary's urgent intervention to expedite the repair and maintenance of these roads. He stressed that prompt action to restore the road infrastructure would greatly alleviate the difficulties faced by the public and ensure the safety of all commuters. Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has appealed for early and swift measures to address the issue.
