Port Blair, Aug 11: The Atal Foundation, Andaman & Nicobar Unit, organized a solemn candle march on 9th Aug 2024 in memory of Late Leela Devi, a dedicated Home Guard of the Andaman & Nicobar Police. The march was led by the State President of the Atal Foundation, Shri Azizur Rahman, and took place from the National Memorial Cellular Jail to Flag Point.

Late Leela Devi tragically lost her life in the line of duty while bravely attempting to stop an underage boy riding a speeding bike without a helmet. This candle march served not only as a tribute to her courage and sacrifice but also as a call to action for greater awareness of traffic rules and road safety.

The event saw participation from over 100 individuals, including the general public, personnel from the Andaman & Nicobar Police, and family members of the late Leela Devi. Also in attendance were Mr. Shergill, former Naval Engineer & State President of the Atal Foundation, Chandigarh, and Mr. M Vinod, National Vice President of the Atal Foundation, Smti. Protima Banerjee, State General Secretary, Atal Foundation. Their presence underscored the importance of the cause and the unity of the community in paying homage to a fallen hero.
