Diglipur, Aug 13: The Diglipur Police successfully cracked down a snatching case and arrested the accused, Suraj Mazumder @ Gullu, on 11.08.2024. Following a complaint about a woman's handbag being snatched near Radha Krishna Mandir, Diglipur, an FIR was promptly registered under the relevant section of the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita-2023. A large-scale manhunt was launched by the PS Diglipur staff under the supervision of Shri Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur.
Based on intelligence inputs, it was determined that the suspect, a notorious criminal with a history of offenses, had been evading police action by fleeing to different jurisdictions after committing crimes. However, Suraj Mazumder was swiftly apprehended after an extensive search, and the stolen property was recovered from his possession.
The accused was arrested following all codal formalities as outlined in the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita-2023 and was produced before the Hon’ble Court at Mayabunder, from where he was remanded to judicial custody.
The entire operation was conducted under the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
