Port Blair, Aug 13: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) successfully concluded its comprehensive capacity-building training programme with a valedictory function held at Hotel Lemon Tree, Port Blair. This impactful programme, organized in collaboration with the Vidya Yuva Kendra Foundation and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, was held from August 10 to 13, 2024, with the aim of enhancing the skills and knowledge of local tourism stakeholders.

The valedictory function was graced by Shri Chandrasekhar, Vice President of the Andaman Chamber of Commerce, who served as the Chief Guest, and Shri Ramakrishna, Assistant Director of India Tourism, who was the Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries underscored the importance of continuous learning and skill development in the tourism sector, especially in a region as unique and ecologically sensitive as the Andaman Islands.

In his address, Shri Chandrasekhar commended AATO for organizing such valuable training sessions, which play a crucial role in the professional growth of local tourism stakeholders. Shri Ramakrishna reiterated this sentiment, highlighting the role of India Tourism in supporting initiatives that drive excellence within the industry.

Shri Mohan, Director of Vidya Yuva Kendra Foundation, also briefed the participants on the importance of training, emphasizing how continuous skill enhancement is vital for adapting to the ever-evolving demands of the tourism industry. He encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the sessions to improve the overall visitor experience in the Andaman Islands.

The training programme featured a series of interactive sessions and workshops focused on sustainable tourism practices, customer service excellence, and effective management strategies. The active participation of the 38 members who completed the training reflects their commitment to elevating the standards of tourism services in the Andaman Islands.

Certificates were distributed to all participants by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour, marking the successful completion of the programme and recognizing the dedication of the attendees.
