Port Blair, Sept. 1: The ANCOL Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with the Andaman AIDS Control Society (ANACS), organized a college level 5 km Marathon competition, titled ‘Red Run’ to create awareness about AIDS and show solidarity with those affected by the disease. The event took place at ANCOL campus and concluded at Corbyn’s Cove Beach.
The Marathon was flagged off by Dr. BSV. Meera Setty, Principal, (i/c), ANCOL on Aug. 31. Students participated in the race, while staff members ran for fitness. In the male category, N. Kartick Raja and M. Manoj Kumar emerged as the top two winners, securing first and second positions respectively. Meanwhile, in the female category, Ms. Yukthi and Ms. Riya Kujur took the top honors, claiming first and second positions respectively. Prior to the start, Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club, Dr. Jochibed Vincent, delivered a brief address highlighting the significance of the event which was aimed to promote awareness and education about AIDS, reduce stigma, and foster a supportive community for those battling the disease. Through the ‘Red Run’, the ANCOL Red Ribbon Club and ANACS demonstrated their commitment to making a positive impact on society.
