Port Blair, Aug. 31: The One Stop Centre under the Directorate of Social Welfare organized an online awareness session on cyber security threats and its solution with the objective to understand common cyber security threats and explore practical solutions to protect personal and organizational data.

Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (SW), stressed on the importance of Cyber Security solution by highlighting that growing number and sophistication of Cyber threats attacks target user directly and many cyber mishaps stem from a lack of security awareness. The cyber threats attacks both individuals and organizations. To prevent cyber-attacks, the individual must aware to use secure digital platform.

Smti Santhi Murugesan, Central Administrator, One Stop Centre welcomed the participants. The resource person, Smti Nandini, Sub-Inspector, PS Aberdeen emphasized on different ways to prevent cybercrime use safe internet security suit, setting of strong password at personnel level etc. She also briefed about best practices for cyber security at personal level like creating strong passwords, be cautions with Emails and links, regular software updates, secure Wi-Fi networks and Data backup. In addition, also shared the helpline numbers for cybercrime complaints which are 1930 and 9531856083.

Smti Meenal Rajan, Case Worker, One Stop Centre briefed on the objective of One Stop Centre Scheme which provides integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence during distress both in private and public spaces. The One Stop Centres facilitate immediate, emergency, non-emergency services access to a range of services including Medical, Legal, minimum 5 days’ temporary shelter, Police assistance, Psychological and Counselling support to fight any forms of violence against women under single roof.

The program was attended by PRI representative, women clients of One Stop Centre and general public.
